What do you do when you want something done properly – especially when you’re a long way from home and you simply can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? Well, the tried and tested answer, of course, is to do it yourself – and that is exactly what Giuseppe, founder of Sapore Vero did, when he created our first Pizzeria in Beckenham, South East London – now entering its 11th year of trade – and then opened a 2nd in nearby Hither Green in 2019. After moving to London (quite some years ago now!), Giuseppe quickly found himself becoming frustrated with a lack of truly authentic Italian pizza, “that I liked”, as he puts it, produced using the methods that he grew up with, like generations before him, in his native Calabria, Southern Italy.

"A unique and beautiful pizzeria in one of the hidden gems of South London; Venn St"We opened our pizzeria in Clapham a few years ago with a simple mission; serve great food in a beautiful space, like with all of the Berberè sites. Now, a few years later we have lovely local following that come in droves, especially at the weekend.Although open all year round, from springtime onwards you can sit outside on the terrace with a negroni, glass of prosecco or a craft beer and transport yourself to Italy, surrounded by festoon lights and olive trees. Inside, you'll find two beautiful rooms with an open kitchen that spreads across the two sides. If you're lucky and book enough in advance, you could hire the side room for a private booking (up to 40 people). Only thing I thought was a little bit of a let down was the gift at the end I thought it was nice but for what people pay for there night out one each would of been nice for 1 of each of the people at the meal . But the meal was great as usual ,just a little more thought for the other half on the night .

It’s so refreshing to go to a restaurant that not only values you as a customer but also makes it special for your children. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, beautifully cooked and delicious! Chef came and greeted us, chatting to our boys. The family restaurant take great pride in their work and that shows when visiting. Polite and friendly staff. Beautifully clean restaurant. Highly recommended. Will be back soon. 5 stars.
