In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. We had a sausage and escarole appetizer which was heavenly. My husband ate a pasta special, he thoroughly enjoyed. I had St. Peter’s fish, as usually it was excellent. The staff is friendly, the owner visits tables to ensure you are happy with your meal. Thanks to all who work at Meta!

Had a wonderful dinner sitting at the bar this past Sunday night! Our bartender Darren was extremely attentive and courteous. The pork chop with red cabbage and the pot roast entrees were awesome. Enjoyed also the flourless chocolate desert. We will be back again!
