We are not an authentic ramen shop, though we value the history of ramen, and our ramen is influenced by its past and its future potential. The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect. Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag. Staff, food, ambiance… everything was perfect. We were lucky enough to get 2 seats at the counter overlooking the kitchen. The ballet was spectacular with all those chefs working together. We had an early reservation and when we left, we could see that it was a trendy place as lot of young preppy looking were coming in. I highly recommend 🥰

We had a great experience at Akahoshi Ramen. Casper was wonderful and attentive! We sat at the counter and enjoyed sipping on our delicious cocktails as we watched the ramen being made! My husband enjoyed the midwestern ramen and I had the Akahoshi. It was SO delicious that my husband had a second round of ramen. HIGHLY recommend and cannot wait to visit here again. Until then, I’ll be dreaming about it.

We devoured the beetroot salad, carpaccio and lamb empanadas. The preparation of the whole fish was sublime! Can’t wait to return and try the beef skewers and lobster pasta. Our server Maria was wonderful and made the perfect recommendations for our meal.
