Everything was very nice. Portions were surprisingly robust and the service was great. The tilefish special, however, was overcooked and dry. Not flaky at all. It looked like it was sitting under the heating lamp which makes sense since it took a long time to receive our meals. I should have said something but didn’t. Overall, we enjoyed the experience.

we had a reservation and still had to wait almost 45 minutes to be seated. the food was overpriced for the quality but it was a cute place! probably wouldn’t go back but if someone is looking to just drop hundreds of dollars then go for it

We chose this restaurant based on its listing in Wine Spectator for a good wine list. We previewed the list prior to making a reservation. We are also aware list can change, however, typically there will be similar bottles on the night of a dinner. We ordered a Pommard Burgundy wine from a maker we know. The bottle took awhile to be brought out. Upon coming to the table the gentleman, not a Somm or our server, started to open the foil without showing us the bottle. We quickly realized the bottle was not Pommard, but Nuits-Saint-George of the same maker. This was not the bottle we ordered. We stopped him from opening it further and inquired about the correct bottle. After another trip upstairs he returned with a bottle from Pommard, but not from the winemaker we had expected. After discussion and another trip to inquire with their wine director who was off for the night of the price, we did ask him to open the Nuits. For us, avid wine drinkers who seek out selections which are not often found outside of France, our experience was disappointing. The presentation, pouring, and execution of serving the wine lacked knowledge. A $350+ bottle once opened and tasted should not ever leave the view of the guest. Our bottle was taken from the table to be placed in a decanter. It is truly unacceptable service for an establishment listed with both Wine Spectator distinction and one aligned with Relais & Châteaux. Our server apologized profusely as did the gentleman who brought us the wrong bottle. It would benefit future guests who plan to purchase excellent and often rare bottles to have knowledgeable staff.

A truly exceptional fine dining experience. Our server Stephanie (from Phoenix AZ) as fantastic in paying a lot of attention to us and the rest of her tables. They have an incredible wine list with some decent prices as well. We ordered Foie Gras (excellent), Carpaccio (light and easy). My wife ordered a Fillet which was cooked to perfection. I ordered the local fish with white asparagus. Only comment was that the "sauce" consisting of capers and olives was way too salty. Other than not being asked if we wanted to check in our coats at the beginning, I would give it a 9.5 out of ten.

Had visited this restaurant several times, visited it this time based on past experience, however , This time the meal was very average and a bit if a disappointment. I can think of 30 restaurants i have visited in Charleston that I would return to, not this one! Paul, our server , was very personable and efficient. For what this meal and wine cost , the quality of the meal was far below what we anticipated.

Upscale service and cuisine. Expensive but worth every cent! Service was impeccable. The mussels were the best we’ve ever tasted. Prime steaks cooked to perfection, and the famous coconut cake, plate presentation was perfect. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite restaurants. I usually get the Wagyu Steak when I go. However, the price doubled on this most recent visit, and I was told by the waiter it was $240 for 4 oz. I was told the price increased to be comparable with Halls Chophouse. However, Halls’ Wagyu Steak is $35 per ounce ($140/ 4 oz). So, I didn’t get the Wagyu steak, and due to price, I’m not certain that I’d return there again. I do enjoy the food, ambience, and service at Peninsula Grill, but several menu changes over the years along with increasing prices have made me less excited about going.
