One if by Land, Two if by Sea has been recognized for its classic menu, long history, and beautiful decor. It is often cited as the most romantic restaurant in New York City. The decor features candlelit tables, brick fireplaces, a baby grand piano and a private garden.

The restaurant operates inside a historic, land-marked carriage house built in 1767.

Established in 1973, One if by Land, Two if by Sea soon became the go to spot in NYC for engagements, anniversaries, weddings and just a night out for quiet dinner.

Highly, highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic evening out in NYC. My fiancé & I were celebrating our engagement & the staff was so gracious & kind in helping us make this an unforgettable evening. Food & service are impeccable combined with the ambiance & atmosphere (the Christmas decor is absolutely beautiful!). Also is pretty cool that Aaron Burr once lived here!

It is indeed one of the best romantic set up I ever seen. Something deeply made arranged take you back to fairly style kind of night. Food was okay not my kind of food and expectation.

Disappointing, especially given price. Inattentive, slow service; nothing special about food. Was a holiday with prefix menu so perhaps we that was a factor, but won’t return.

Beautiful restaurant with excellent service. The historical elements of the space make it special and interesting. For example, we were seated at a table beside a showcase that contained the dueling guns of Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. I loved that. The food was delicious, too!

Absolutely incredible Christmas Day meal. If you’ve never been to this restaurant you have to treat yourself and go there. The food is incredible, the service is spectacular, and the atmosphere is perfect.
