The Worst Dining Experience of My Life—Avoid at All Costs If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. From start to finish, this was an absolute disaster. My reservation was at 7:45 PM, and I arrived at 7:30—15 minutes early. Instead of a warm welcome, the host rudely informed me they were “about to cancel” my reservation because I didn’t confirm via phone. Who does that in 2025? I was already standing at your door. Red flag number one. My friend was visiting from London, and I wanted to give them a great experience, so I brushed off this obnoxious behavior and tried to enjoy the evening. Mistake. After sitting at the bar for cocktails (because our table wasn’t ready), we finally got seated. The server only handed us a wine menu—no food menu. Okay, sure, I thought maybe they were trying to elevate the experience with a wine-first approach. Wrong again. We ordered a bottle of wine, and when the food arrived, we inquired about gluten-free options since my friend has dietary restrictions. The server’s response? “We don’t have gluten-free options.” No apology, no alternative suggestions, just a dismissive shrug. At this point, we were ready to leave, and when I brought this up to the host, they smugly said, “You should’ve mentioned that in your reservation.” Excuse me? For a so-called “fine dining” establishment, your lack of basic courtesy and flexibility is appalling. I was prepared to spend whatever it took to create a memorable night, but the terrible service, dismissive attitude, and complete lack of hospitality made it clear this restaurant didn’t deserve a dime. Thankfully, we left and found a phenomenal restaurant that treated us with respect and actually wanted our business. Do yourself a favor: skip this place. Unless you enjoy being disrespected and disappointed, go somewhere else.

Good Afternoon Clement, I am really sorry you feel this way, We had tried twice to contact you to confirm your reservation and we did not hear back from you assuming your plans have changed. Of course we are thrilled to have you join us. We do not hold tables for unconfirmed reservations but we worked quickly to have a table for you with in about 15 minutes of your arrival. In regards to the menu request to have limited salt or no salt; we were ready for that request to the point the staff was directed on what breads to serve and the chef was also aware of the note too. We take these requests very seriously. At the table you requested Gluten Free, the GM and Chef gave options to accommodate the request and that is why we were surprised that you left shortly after that.

Beef W and Ribeye were shockingly awful. Have been coming here for almost 30 years. Will never come again.

A quiet, romantic and cozy evening with beautiful piano music complimented by highly attentive service. The food couldn’t match the hype. Pappardelle was impressive and then it fizzed down with a beef Wellington which was outdone by the pastry it was served with. The desert was flat and taste of dry sugar. The presentation was nice yet not enough to drive the exorbitant price point. We would have gone with the chef experience yet the desert was not something either of us would have enjoyed and it’s a strict no substitute policy. There are so many better options for impressive cuisine in New York to choose from.

Wonderful. Went on a Thursday evening after the holidays. Ate early because we were seeing an 8 pm opera. Beautiful space. Delicious food. Excellent cocktails. Friendly staff. Great service. Not cheap. However, there were fresh flowers and real candles on the table, and a live person playing the piano. Highly recommend it.

We traveled from St. Louis for a romantic dinner at One If By Land, Two If By Sea, and it truly exceeded our expectations! We opted for the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing, and every course was nothing short of phenomenal. Having experienced many fine dining tasting menus before, we can confidently say this was one of the best meals we've ever experienced — start to finish. Each dish was perfectly prepared, bursting with flavor, and the portions were impressively generous. Our server, Sasha, provided exceptional service, attending to our needs throughout the evening. The restaurant’s ambiance was perfectly romantic, creating the ideal setting for our special night. We wholeheartedly recommend One If By Land, Two If By Sea to anyone seeking an unforgettable evening out!

Food was excellent and ambiance was incredible, but the service was poor. We were served bread at the same time as the first course and each course came out in rapid succession without any breath in between.

Beautiful ambiance. Food was good and service was lovely. Not quite worth the money for wine and food. Would only go back for a cocktail purely for the ambiance.
