Tucked into one of Portland’s beautifully restored industrial buildings, Olympia Provisions Southeast has grown from establishing the city’s first salumeria to being a destination for refined, European-style dishes. Our menu here is guided by the capable hands of Chef Matthew Jarrell, and reflects an innovative approach to the traditions of rustic Spanish and Mediterranean cooking.     Inattentive and smug service (but overly attentive with keeping our water glasses filled). Meals came out at different times over a 20 min period. Server bussed plates with food still on it. We were displeased with amount of food for the price; ingredient quality did not stack up. Steak tartare was great and very fresh; carne de porco was heavy on the potatoes and not much else. Grinder was basic, and the ciabatta was barely toasted; between that and the soft meat, it made for a very mushy sandwich. Heavy handed with the piquillo peppers on the fried mortardella but the toasted brioche was tasty. Great soup! Poor lighting and atmosphere unless you're in the atrium. This wasn't worth it.

    We LOVE eating here. The food is always excellent. The drinks are delicious. We don’t love sitting in the back room. It’s cold and the ambiance is less cozy and fun. The service is usually really spot on and attentive, that said the last two times we’ve rather there it has taken absolutely ages to get our bill and we weren’t offered dessert or coffee or anything. Both times once the main courses were delivered we didn’t see our server again until we went looking for her. Otherwise, OP continues to deliver excellent food and a terrific dining experience.

    Restaurant was almost empty, yet we were seated immediately beside a couple having a quiet dinner together, then another large party beside us- seemed weird. No reason not to spread us out a little for privacy and noise. Cocktails were great, food just ok, waitress was informative but seemed in a hurry then at the end of the meal, disappeared. Most shocking was that 20% was automatically added to our bill for a ‘service charge’ and another almost $4 for a ‘wellness fee’- both of which we could’ve asked to have removed and therefore looked like jerks…. Experience food etc did not seem to equal value and expectations .

    Tagliatelle was inedible due to overpowering extreme salt taste. I looove salt and have never ever had a dish be too salty. This was so bad. Both my husband and myself could not eat our pasta. We returned our food and only given credit for one dish. There was no offer to remake the dish. Very disappointing that the chef apparently claims it was made as intended. There was NO way… tasted like a salt lick.
