As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

    We visited Nobu 57 while on our holiday to New York, booked especially for my birthday dinner. We have been to multiple Nobu’s over the last few years, especially back home in London, but we couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed with our visit here in New York. On arrival our coats weren’t taken, which I thought was odd as this is usually standard procedure and given the time of year most people are wearing big coats and jackets. The wine and food we had was good, cocktails however a little underwhelming. The service was okay, it felt slightly rushed and not very attentive. In comparison to service that we have received in the past, we just felt that it lacked a personable touch. When you consider how much tip you are required to pay on top of your bill, we felt that it wasn’t warranted for what we paid. Although we did have a nice evening, we left feeling a little underwhelmed and in hindsight wish we had a visited elsewhere while in New York.
