The Walrus story began in 2013 with the desire to offer a truly unique American experience from the mastery of southern-inspired smoking techniques to our hand-selected craft beers, wines and liquors. The original Walrus + Carpenter was serving the artistic community of Black Rock for 7 years. In 2020, Walrus moved to Westport, reopening our doors as Walrus Alley as a nod to the expansive alley on which we host guests and music all summer long.
Winner of best southern food and barbecue for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
True to the American experience, Walrus is an independent, family-owned and operated establishment.

Like the legendary bistros of Paris, Rive is warm, and convivial, a true bistro populaire.
The dining room, with a wrap-around wall of windows overlooks a bend in the river, there is fireplace for winter, and in warm weather there is an outdoor patio that feels like a cafe on the Seine.
With a suave lighting, urban decor and, of course, un comptoir (a bar) serving hip cocktails and wine by the glass, Rive is very much of-the -moment, as popular Parisian bistros today.

The Boathouse at Saugatuck is an exciting American seafood restaurant with panoramic views of the Saugatuck River. House in the Saugatuck Rowing Club, this Westport restaurant is situated on the second floor (elevator accessible) with indoor as well as limited outdoor dining on our covered deck and first floor water front terrace when weather permits.
If you are not able to book on OpenTable, please call us at 203-227-3399 and depending upon availability, we may be able to accommodate you. We are limiting bookings to 90 minutes. If you are more than 15 minutes late your reservation is at risk. Please take travel time into account in order to be on time.
We will make every attempt to honor reservation requests for our upstairs deck. However, due to limited seating outdoors, high demand and the ever changing weather, we cannot guarantee seating on the deck.
Requesting "Outdoor Seating" on your OpenTable reservation does not guarantee a table is available at the time you request.
