- DDavidLos Angeles •5 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoState Bird Provisions exceeded all expectations. The restaurant was moderately noisy, however, it wasn’t so loud that I couldn’t hear myself think. Lots of people were enjoying the excellent food and service provided by the attentive staff, and my wife and I were two of the lucky people dining here. It was our 8-year wedding anniversary, which made the evening extra special. I highly recommend dining here, as it will most definitely be a memorable experience. Lots of variety and both a dim sum offering and traditional menu of food offerings. This place is popular, so make a reservation in advance.More infoState Bird ProvisionsPrice: Very Expensive• Californian• Western Addition•4.8
- DdayVIPSan Francisco Bay Area •6 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoThe Progress never disappoints. We sat at the bar for a pre birthday celebration and had the best time. First, if you get to have the pleasure of Brent the bartender and server was outstanding in every sense. While making tons of cocktails, he was able to guide us through the menu and pick the best choices for our meal - all with a beautiful grin. The food is above excellent, imaginative, well prepared and presented. Service staff is efficient and just the right amount of friendly. A definite go to!More infoThe ProgressPrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary American• Western Addition•4.8

Delicious food, a nicely priced glass of wine (for San Francisco) and excellent recommendations and service from the wait staffMore infoThe Tailor's SonPrice: Expensive• Italian• Pacific Heights•4.7
- AAudreySan Francisco Bay Area •4 reviews5.0Dined on 25 Dec 2024The food quality at Octavia is very high. The chefs really know what they’re doing. We had a pre-fixe menu for Christmas Eve dinner and they accommodated dietary restrictions with advanced notice. They actually called a few days in advance of the reservation to confirm the dietary restrictions which was really nice. We had 9 courses I think and they were all delicious. My favorites were the soup and the pasta dishes. The service was also very good, the servers were very attending and accommodating. There was one dish I didn’t eat much of because it had radicchio in it which I don’t like, and our server offered to have the kitchen make me a replacement dish with a different lettuce instead. The only negative of Octavia is that it feels very cramped. The space is small and they squeeze in a lot of tables so you’re sitting basically on top of other diners and it’s a little awkward. Everything else was great though. I would definitely recommend Octavia as a good place for special occasions or bringing out of town visitors.More infoOctaviaPrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary American• Pacific Heights•4.7

Discover Japantown
One of only three official Japantowns in the U.S., the neighborhood packs a heap of cultural vibrancy and dining delights into its six city blocks. Sidestep the overpriced, touristy chains to discover a trove of unexpected eats. On the snack side, mochis of all flavors beckon, as well as other signature sweets like matcha, onigiri, sponge cake, and more. Wash it down with boba tea, or a drink at one of the local izakayas—neighborhood gastropubs with an inviting, casual vibe. For savory eats, the noodle shops are not to be missed. Whether we’re talking ramen or udon, few things are as contested as your go-to noodle joint—perfect for those foggy San Francisco days. Options abound in Japantown, it’s just a matter of finding your favorite one.
