- KKyleNew York City •1 review5.0Dined 2 days agoAs someone who considered Flannel an absolute staple of south Philly and was sad to see it go, I’m happy to say that DaVinci & Yu is a more than worthy follow-up! We went on a Sunday night with a reservation at 6:30pm and were greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and made great suggestions for us. We ended up ordering the two drink specials for the night as well as the following: - Cacio e pepe e miso - Orange chicken parm - Kung pao and sweetbread bao buns - Black sesame tiramisu - Tofu flan with gochujang caramel Everything was incredibly tasty, but the standouts were the Cacio e Pepe e miso, the orange chicken parm, and the tofu flan, all of which blew us away with their flavors and subtlety. The service was great and the owner even came around to check in on us a few times. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! - MMelaniePhiladelphia County •2 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoI have always leaned towards spice because of where I grew up and the culinary influences so River Twice was a revelation. The clean crisp flavors and the use of culinary techniques to enhance the dishes was something I have never experienced before. It was an emotional experience. The use of dehydrated mushrooms to enhance the tuna and then combining it with kumquats 🤯🤯🤯. My daughter and I are on a culinary journey, exposing ourselves to new flavors and and we have been trying some really awesome food but this is the first place we immediately wanted to return.More infoRiver TwicePrice: Very Expensive• American• South Philly•4.6

- JJimVIPPhiladelphia County •43 reviews5.0Dined on 10 Feb 2025Wonderful from start to finish. New filet crostini and tuna crudo were outstanding. The tuna was explosive with hot chilies. The filet was so tender and marinated. Main was saffron fettuccine with mussels and excellent sauce. Chocolate gelato and espresso to close it out. Everything was A+.More infoBucatini CaffePrice: Moderate• Italian• East Passyunk Avenue•4.9

12 of Philadelphia’s outstanding spots for celebrating special occasions
Maybe you got engaged on the steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art or just picked up the keys to your first rowhouse. It could be that your kid is (finally) toilet trained, or that your noisy neighbor moved away. Sometimes, simply surviving another Tuesday can be an occasion to celebrate over a restaurant meal. It doesn’t have to be fancy. What makes an occasion special isn’t an arbitrary date on the calendar—it’s the decision to celebrate. Luckily, Philadelphia bursts with places where the food and atmosphere lend themselves to living it up. Grab dinner and a jazz show at a swinging North Broad Street faithful. Opt for a quieter night at a critically acclaimed, plant-based gem in Midtown Village. Or splurge on a swanky steakhouse that presides over a corner of Rittenhouse Park. Whether you’re after an intimate spot for an anniversary date or a convivial atmosphere for a boisterous reunion, Philadelphia has you covered with these 12 celebration-worthy restaurants.

Discover South Philly
South Philadelphia is a bustling, diverse neighborhood that reflects the best of what the city has to offer, and its food is no exception. Many of the city’s most iconic foods can trace their roots here. Of course, no visit to Philly is complete without a classic cheesesteak, invented in this part of town by Pat Olivieri in 1930. In fact, Italian-Americans living in South Philadelphia have been a driving force behind the city’s food culture, popularizing favorites like pizza and water ice. You can visit the Italian Market area for a sampling of some of the city’s specialty foods from quality meats and produce to baked goods and gelato. If Vietnamese food is what you’re after, this neighborhood is also home to plenty of authentic dishes like pho and banh mi.
