- MMaureenChicago / Illinois •4 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoWe made a reservation, but decided we wanted to eat in the bar area. The owner is courteous and very customer service friendly and added us to the waitlist for a bar table. We didn't mind at all sitting at the bar.Ordered drinks and some shrimp cocktail. The food was excellent. We ordered the dover sole and salmon All excellent. Next time.. surf and turf. Love the neighborhood feeling with elevated service and food. Can't wait to go back. We used to live in the neighborhood and went here in the 80's. Even ran into some old friends Just love they kept this gem in Melrose and Tom is making plans to keep it going even better. We'll be back soon. Thank you!More infoTom's Steak HousePrice: Expensive• Steak• Melrose Park•4.7

- EElizabethChicago / Illinois •12 reviews5.0Dined 6 days agoMet with friends for late lunch. Nice quiet atmosphere with soothing music. Two of us ordered the short rib dinner and one ordered salmon. Portions were huge and meat was tender. Salmon done perfectly. For dessert we ordered cannoli and fig bread pudding. Both very good each came with a scoop of gelato. Ordered two regular coffees and wanted one decaf coffee. They did not have decaf nor decaf americano. It would be nice to have in the afternoon for those who can’t have caffeine. Overall experience very good and we will return.More infoRusticoPrice: Moderate• Italian• Oak Park•4.7

Discover Melrose Park
A Chicago neighborhood with a storied history, Melrose Park for decades held a sizable Italian-American population that, in recent years, has been gradually replaced by a growing Hispanic community. Although the suburb features cuisines of all kinds, travelers will be pleased by its Italian and Mexican eateries. Authenticity is the word here as you savor tender veal scaloppini served with seasonal mushrooms and truffle oil. If you're in the mood for more casual dining, stop in at one of the many family-owned pizzerias for a slice of classic thin-crust. Elsewhere, enjoy a carne a la tampiqueña served with salad, rice, beans, and… cactus. Top off your meal with a refreshing horchata spiced with vanilla and cinnamon.
