- PPhilvipHouston •6 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoThis place is consistently superb, especially for the price. We come here about twice/month. Last month we ate at some of our favorite spots in Santa Fe. Balcon measures up to any of them. I love the elote asado (street corn) and the enmolada, with house-made corn tortillas. I pick other items on other days, but these are my favorites. Best margaritas in the area.More infoBalconPrice: Moderate• Mexican• San Marcos•4.5
- CCindyvipNew Mexico •33 reviews4.0Dined on 13 Nov 2024The restaurant was not busy and I had made reservations. We were seated quickly and waited a few minutes for our server. He was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered beverages and they were brought out in a timely manner. The cowboy filet was seasoned perfectly and at a nice warm temperature. My husband ordered the ribeye steak with mushroom topping. The steak was warm but the mushrooms were not. He ate the steak but left the cold mushrooms. The salad was served on a chilled plate and for interest, the carrots were curled. I think it added a nice aesthetic touch. Our server placed rolls on the table. The butter was perfectly chilled but the rolls were not hot. In all, it was a nice evening and meal. Adequate but not great yet. We come to dinner an average of once a week because of the location in Kissing Tree is convenient.More infoTarbox & Brown - Kissing Tree Golf ClubPrice: Moderate• American• San Marcos•4.6

Don’t miss the brisket breakfast sando and the brunch bowl with brisket! Great selection of delicious libations like the super tasty waffle shot, which combines Jameson Irish whiskey, orange juice, bacon, and butterscotch for a “wake me up” that you won’t forget.More infoIndustryPrice: Moderate• American• San Marcos•4.5

Discover San Marcos
Between two of Texas' largest cities is San Marcos. A college town with a meandering river, San Marcos has a lot of great food to offer. This region of the state is known for Tex-Mex food, and San Marcos takes it to a high level with the town favorite, a guacamole and queso burger. [If you aren't in the mood for guacamole, stroll through the local food truck park or enjoy Texas hill country cuisine on the courtyard of one of San Marcos’ original restaurants. You’re in Texas after all, so you'll be sure to find steakhouses and barbecue shacks. Sandwich shops, cafes, bakeries and coffee houses satisfy when you're looking for something on the lighter side.
