Monty’s Steakhouse has been proudly family-owned and operated for over 80 years by three
generations of the Levine family.
Monty Levine’s start as a restauranteur came in 1940, while he was working for a wholesale beverage
distributor. When one of the customers on his route—who owned a small bar and burger joint on the
corner of Fair Oaks and California Boulevard, Pasadena—fell severely ill, Monty extended him personal
credit until he recovered. Touched by the generosity of this gesture, the customer offered Monty his
burger bar in settlement of his debts…and the original Monty’s was born.

One of the best steak houses in the Valley. We tried Larson’s, Morton’s , Fleming and Ruth’s Christ and none are as good as Monty’s. Service was great and we had a nice quiet table even though the room was full. What an enjoyable dining experience and highly recommended.

This place is so underrated. The food is really, really good. We had the shrimp Monty, and the Louisiana Chicken with a Caesar and French onion soup. Everything was delicious. It’s not too loud, and the service was perfect. Also, they pour a mean cocktail.

Monty’s always has such a great vibe. I love going there. The staff is super friendly, the drinks are amazing and the food is absolutely delicious! We got to sit with the Owner for a bit and so enjoyed chatting with him. We have recently rediscovered how great this restaurant is! We will come from Westlake Village any time we can to spend time at Monty’s!!!

I’ve been to Monty’s a number of times over the years and have always enjoyed it. On 2/21 there were 7 of us celebrating two birthdays. The food and drinks were top notch. I had the tomato and onion salad topped with blue cheese crumbles which tasted great. For our main we split the porterhouse steak and the chicken parm. The porterhouse and the sides that came with it were delicious as was the chicken parm. The service was friendly and attentive and the ambiance which included a 3 piece band made for a perfect evening with friends. We will be back.

Awful rude waitress. Combative and aggressive. Could not wait to get you out asap. A very poor experience for a usually good venue. The attitude spoiled the evening. Obvious disappointment.

We have been dining at Monty’s for over 50 years. We have never had a bad meal because the food is top notch and delicious. They have a great bar scene and if you are a sports fan they have several televisions so you won’t miss your favorite game. The staff and the service is absolutely the best! The owner Michael is very personable and he always makes everyone feel like part of the family. I highly recommend this restaurant. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
