Great experience. We had a few food items that I wish had a little more flavor and seasoning (roasted vegetables) but the pastas and pizza were delicious. Recommend playing better music. Doesn’t have to be Italian (although I think that would be great) but 90s pop was the wrong vibe. And I know everyplace in Chicago has sports on the TVs all the time but I could do without. Overall, recommend!

We went here before a United Center event, so we gave ourselves enough time to be able to eat and get to the event, however, the restaurant overbooked and did not enforce their own 1.5 hour table limit, therefore, we never got a table in time. They had a tent in the back which was also never offered to us when advised they were running late. Once we figured out that we would not get to the event on time, we advised the manager, who then put us in the tent and apologized. Food looks good, but we didn’t have time too order anything special, but pizza. We scarfed it down and ran out. Would not recommend before a United Centre event.

I wish I could review Macello for the food but sadly we had the absolute worst experience without ever getting seated. We had a 5:45 reservation where we showed up at 5:35. By 6:30 we still had not been seated. This was not just our party, but two other parties had the same reservation time and were also never seated. The shocking part is their management nor the host ever talked to anyone about what was happening or if we would even be seated. They were clearly ignoring everyone, and did not care at all. There are so many other Italian restaurants within walking distance of Macello that you should definitely visit instead of going to this horrific place which clearly does not know what they are doing and has absolutely zero respect for their customers.

Excellent food and ambiance. Outstanding bar tender. Enthusiastic waiter. Only soft spot was waiter seemed spread too thin. Had to wave him down a few times for service .

The food, amazing. The cocktails, delish. The service, exceptional. The atmosphere, perfect. We are in Chicago for the week and boy are we glad we chose Macello’s. We both took a chance and ordered dishes we’ve never had before. I had the Orecchiette Braciole and my wife had Trofiette al Pistachio, both amazing. 10 out of 10 would come again!! Our waiters were knowledgeable, attentive and personable.
