We went to MacCallum House for a birthday dinner with my wife and we decided to do the tasting dinner. The restaurant has a full tasting menu and a vegetarian tasting menu, I don’t eat red meat or pork so they let me do a mix of the two menus, amazing! Our waiter was very patient with us and very polite and helpful. Overall a wonderful night, we will definitely come back next time we visit the area!

We’ve been dining at the MacCullum house for years. We do love the food. However, the attitude of the chef leaves much to be desired. My spouse thinks their fried chicken is the best she has ever had. She hasn’t liked the sides that accompany the chicken. We asked the server to please substitute potatoes that were served with another offering on the menu and offered as a side dish. She said we can’t do that and it was obvious she was frightened to even ask the chef. She told us she would ask the chef. She left and returned to our table and told us he would do it this time because they weren’t busy. So, for $28.00 we received 2 big pieces of delicious chicken and 3 small new potatoes cut in half and fried. The chicken was definitely worth it but not the attitude of the chef. We may never return! Our hope is that the owners and/or management have a discussion with their chef. Good food! Acceptable service. Beautiful view! Terrible kitchen staff attitude.

This was our 2nd visit, and first in 5 years. We absolutely love it here. The setting is quaint, truly. Not pretentious. Service is excellent. The cocktail menu is unique and colorful, and the dinner offerings are why we came back. My wife had the duck, and I the fried chicken. (I know, I know... "Fried chicken?!?!?") Both were fantastic. The dessert menu is exceptional as well, especially the scotch and port offerings. For the two of us, we spent $160 which included two entrées, house special cocktail for my wife, glass of cabernet and a scotch for me, and dessert for my wife. We'll be back in another 5 years, and I'm sure we'll be just as pleased then.

A wonderful experience! The food was unbelievable, we got the ahi tuna special and it was the best tuna I have ever had. Also got the filet minion it was fantastic. For desert we had the banana split and poppyseed beignets. All of it was 10/10. The ambiance was cozy and inviting. Will be returning!!

Fried chicken was wonderful; the first time we have tried it. Everything on the dish was carefully thought out, from the collard greens and black-eyed peas to the cornbread. The room is lovely and inviting. Wine list is quite good and fairly priced. Sommelier was very helpful. Our server was willing and quite pleasant, but a bit distracted and we had to remind her twice to bring the wine. She never did, but when the sommelier stopped by we asked him and he took care of us.

Underwhelming. The $50 filet mignon was tiny and not cooked to order. Both deserts (ice cream and sorbet, much hyped by our waiter) were mediocre, had a rubber like consistency, no taste and would not melt.

Maybe the best restaurant in Mendocino, but not a gastronomic experience. Hostess busy, waited five minutes in lobby before she had time to check our reservation and sit us, waiter very friendly but forgetful, served soup without spoon, had to request water refill, dishes arrived before we were halfway done with our cocktails, etc. Food was decent, nothing more, Overall,,, too many misses to warrant a better review.
