Hemmingways is a great choice if you’re looking for an excellent casual dining experience that’s not hard on the pocketbook. The food, service and ambience are excellent. But, depending on the weather, being seated at the upper level can feel a bit chilly. Heaters did help, but not always enough.

We really enjoyed the evening here on Valentines. The ambiance was perfect with the city lights, decor and the musicians playing crossover jazz with some current music. It was a nice blend. All the food was good. The salmon tartar was a great start and the main lamb was cooked perfectly. Chocolate martinis with the tiramisu in chocolate and brandy was a nice finish. At first I thought the plates were small but in the end we were full. So all in all a great experience.

Classic Toronto venue. Ground level could use a decor refresh or reimagining but if you're looking for what you used to know this is the place. Delicious, fresh and unpretentious meals at a great price. Efficient friendly service. Top shelf.
