Best Ocean Friendly Restaurants in the United States & Canada

Sustainability is a core focus of many restaurants across the country, and some of the most committed are recognized as ocean-friendly by the Surfrider Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the protection of the world's ocean, waves, and beaches. Those restaurants must meet strict criteria, ranging from using proper recycling methods to eliminating plastic bags, straws, and utensils. Read on for which OpenTable restaurants are a part of the ocean-friendly program, and consider patronizing to contribute a small part of helping preserve the planet.

Had a lovely Thanksgiving Day meal. Food was very good and plentiful. Our server was very efficient and friendly. We looked out on a beautiful park filled with colorful fall foliage on a crisp November afternoon. Picture perfect. And found free Holiday street parking.

Our waitperson, Camila V, was great. Just the right balance of service. She didn't hover, but we never felt neglected. The food was as tasty as I remember from pre-pandemic and pre-remodel. The space feels more relaxed and light. We had a great time having our lunch there today. I also forgot to mention that I was a member of your PC Rewards when we ordered and Camila pleasantly helped me update my account with today's purchase.

Dine at the most breathtaking oceanfront setting in Kapalua Resort. Peter Merriman Chef/Restauranteur has brought his unique style of Hawaii Regional Cuisine to Maui. A pioneer in the “Farm to Table” concept, Peter serves only the freshest products, at least 90% of which are locally grown or caught, using only sustainable methods.

Reservations are released 60 days prior at 6am HST. This includes all holidays. My family of five adults and a one year-old granddaughter enjoyed our second meal at Leilani‘s on the beach during our one week vacation on Maui. The ambience was superb as it was a nice evening with a beautiful sunset. Our server was Derek, and he was wonderful. He was attentive, friendly, and helpful. All our requests were taken care of by Derek. The food was superb again as usual. We enjoyed the calamari and Korean pork ribs as starters, and the pork ribs are very flavorful! They had a children’s menu for our one year-old, and she devoured most of the chicken and green beans. Two of us enjoyed the superb sesame crusted tuna with a tasty shiitake soy butter. One daughter enjoyed the shrimp pasta, and the other enjoyed the Alaskan King crab legs. Even though the crab legs were expensive, there was a large amount of meat within the large crab legs, and the crab meat was so tender and succulent. It was worth the price! My wife enjoyed the ribs and chicken plate. The proportions of food was generous and the timing of service between the appetizers and entrées was spot on. It was a lovely evening with a great meal and wonderful service at Leilani‘s on the beach. We look forward to our next trip to Maui so we can have dinner at Leilani‘s on the beach.

This is a very lovely and memorable Thanksgiving dinner. Our server Haley is super awesome. She is very personable, very accommodating with our 8 years old picky eater. And of course my son and husband ate to their hearts content! Definitely would come here again. When you are here, ask for Haley!!

If you like fresh seafood, this is definitely the place for you!! But it’s not just the seafood that’s great, their salads and soups are amazing too!! My husband had the clam chowder and it was thick and rich- whole clams (not diced up little pieces)….and I had the chicory salad which was a lot more than just chicory….it had dates, blue cheese, persimmons, pumpkinseeds. I was so delicious that I ate the whole thing (but honestly, it’s a shareable portion). I had the macadamia crusted halibut which was perfectly cooked and the sauce was the perfect accompaniment. My husband had the scallops with squid in risotto….also delicious! We will definitely be back and bring friends next time!!

Our waitress Anna was awesome ! When eating with a 3 year old for breakfast it’s a little more challenging on the wait staff , but Anna had it all under control ! Great food greater service a little pricey for the breakfast buffet $40 per head but you get what you pay for ! Excellent experience , the entire hotel was awesome for our family of 7 trip !

Our server, Edward, as always, provided us with excellent service. He is both extremely caring and professional. He greeted us and proceeded with the daily special as he acknowledged that we are familiar with the menu and he personally served us on other occasions. We ordered the usual angel hair pasta and it was phenomenal with just the right balance of pine nuts, garlic, tomatoes, spinach and Parmesan cheese. The quality serving remained hot throughout lunch. This is a perfect if you seeking a light, satisfying meal.

Attended on 12/17/2024. Attention to detail and Incredible service made this a great night. On Open Table, I listed what package I wanted and asked for a table near a window in the notes field and when I checked in they stated my requests and was working on them. Service was spectacular, The wait staff took their time ensuring our party had an understand of each item on the menu. The only bummer is when the Manager or someone like that stopped a busser right in our view and began to go over some issue with him. In my mind you do that in the kitchen and not in view of customers. Overall, the date night menu is a great value, oh, Avoid the Au Gratin potatoes. They made it into a loaf and it was cool. Au Gratin should have a sauce and a crispy top layer. Someone took a twist on it and no one wanted to tell them it was not a good idea. You now know.

During these trying times, we are trying to adjust our service so that customers feel safe but still have a great Ki's experience. Daytime service is as it always has been: order at the counter and the food will be brought to you in the seating area we have created outside under the tents. Night-time is full service. From the day we opened we've been mindful about where our ingredients come from and how to bring to life the vibrant flavors and feeling of the Pacific. It's our commitment to our guests to keep things interesting, innovative, wholesome and thoughtfully sourced. That's why we've formalized our relationship with the Monterey Bay Seafood Aquarium's Seafood Watch, James Beard Foundation's Smart Catch and the Surfrider Foundation by becoming a partner and bringing on a director of sustainability to help steward these efforts.

We will be following the most stringent protocols on cleaning, sanitization, social distancing, and protections for employee health including temperature taking and the use of protective masks and gloves.

Love this place! The pear prosciutto flatbread was wonderful, as was the French onion soup. Unfortunately, on this visit my husband said his fish and chips was subpar. Fish was soggy, fries were cold. Should have sent it back, but he didn’t want to cause a fuss.

We were happy to be seated quickly, however we were in draft of the cold wind. Our server was just ok, he acted like he didn’t want to be there. He was not very pleasant nor helpful. Overall we had a thought we had a good dining experience, However three people who ate with us last night said they got sick from the food.

Mark and Trevor provided great service. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Elvia and Erika keep the buffet looking fresh and all items are refreshed when needed. Chef Roy prepares a fantastic omelette. I appreciate the warm greeting from Sean and Dana when approaching the host/hostess stand. We always enjoy our dining experience at the Taco Project.

Super good pizza. The remodel now had a mix of walk up counter service, pizza by the slice, or full order. To get a table that is reserved, you talk with the food at the bar. It still took about 15 min to be seated. Our server was super friendly. Great selection of pizzas.

Dockside 1953 went above and beyond to give us an amazing anniversary experience. The food and drinks were outstanding!! The atmosphere was simply beautiful!! We go for my son'sbirthdayeveryyear. Food was ok, the quality was better a year ago. Nachos were very salty and the burgers we not tasty as in the padt. Service was good but they had an issue with the bathrooms and the smell was horrible. No note on the doors apologizing for the smell not even an explanation. Overall good experience. May return next year.

Came for Thanksgiving dinner. We both had the prix fixe and everything was fantastic. The details of each dish were not lost and the flavor profiles were festive without being over indulgent. Emma was our gracious host and very accommodating. Being our first time to Meridian it couldn’t have been more perfect. We’ll be back!

Great food and service. We were 8 adults and one minor. When I reserved there was no where to specify that we had a minor in our group. Table was ready on bar side. So we had to wait until they could get us seated elsewhere. The staff went out of their way to get that done in a timely manner. Thank you belle et la boeuf St Jerome. You guys never disappoint.

58th Birthday! We have always loved Sierra Nevada and visit each other we come to town (with the exception of the past two times due to CoVid and their closing for 14 months). Service was excellent, food was excellent, ambiance excellent. CoVid restrictions perfect! Garden amazing and our food had fresh garden goodies! The Black Forest cake was outstanding… hooray chef Katie (I think was her name?) oh and the beer… always good! The pretzel with beer cheese is always a must order! Made a reservation- would suggest that.
