We attended a wine paired dinner with Terrasole. The drinks and wine were really done well. The meat was cooked really well too. However, when you make Carpaccio and dump a ton of salad and a pound of grated cheese on top of it, you loose the taste of the Carpaccio. I had to dig out the meat and waste great cheese and half a salad patch. FAIL The Gnocchi were not Gnocchi. FAIL The Gorgonzola Polenta was the most ridiculous Polenta I have ever had. My companion thought it was mashed potatoes. Polenta is a corn based staple famous in Northern Italy and made into a dense bread. In middle Italy it can be more creamy. The Polenta served was a disaster. I will return, but I won't be ordering any Italian food that has been destroyed.

The absolutely best place for sushi in Vancouver. The food is always excellent quality and the staff are so polite and attentive that I wouldn’t go anywhere else. We ordered a mix of items from rolls to gyoza to nigiri to tempura, all of which were well presented, good portions and very tasty. Excellent value for money. Keep up the great work guys!!

Atmosphere was vibrant, food and cocktails were delicious, and servers were very friendly. Unfortunately we were only a table of 2 and we chose a night that had several large parties that were seated before us. The kitchen was obviously slammed and so food took a very long time to come out. The basket of bread however slightly held us over until our food arrived. However it was worth the wait. The food was decadent! Because of the service delays, they comped a dessert for us which was a nice gesture.

We dined at Joey's on our 3rd evening in Vancouver. So far it is our favorite! The vibe was lively and the service attentive. But the food! There was such good variety for my husband and my varied tastes. I had the steak and sushi along with the house salad. I have never tasted such delicious and unusual sushi before! The aburi sushi was new to me and very much enjoyed. I ate every bite. My husband had the chicken parmesan. It came artistically presented with the noodles spun atop the chicken. The chicken was moist and delicious and balanced well with the imaginative house salad. The prices were reasonable for downtown Vancouver.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Gastown, so I looked forward to showing my SIL this place. As my SIL was still recovering from a bout of diverticulitis, I didn’t order a bottle of wine. I had two wines by the glass, and we shared a few dishes. We started with their fabulous bread service, then a Dungeness Crab salad, an Artichoke tart and their Terrine of Fois Gras. Our “main” was their Agnolotti. I had a glass of 2022 Garnier et Fils Chablis with the salads and a glass of 2016 Synchromesh Pinot Noir from Storm Haven Vineyard in Okanagan Falls, BC with foie gras and agnolotti. The Artichoke Tart was half salad, half egg custard tart with pieces of artichoke between the two. It was a light, refreshing dish. The Dungeness Crab Salad was a visual surprise … the crab was placed between thin slices of radish and decorated with green leaves. It was interesting; perhaps a little too subtle in flavor for me. The foie gras terrine came with two thick pieces of brioche. The square of terrine was decorated with squares of wine jelly, and cherry halves. The terrine was soft and silky and the brioche so buttery. The star of the evening was the Sweet Corn Agnolotti. Pillows of mascarpone pasta were covered with pieces of sweet corn and a generous helping of sliced black truffle. This dish was “to die for” and I wanted to order a second plate. I love the food at L’Abattoir and dine here every time I come to Vancouver.

The food is always exceptional here. Everything on the menu is dynamite. Service is always wonderful. Only complaint, it’s always freezing in there no matter what time of the year I go and the seats by the stairs are the worst seat in the house and I somehow always get sat there. Minor inconvenience for some of the best food in Calgary though.

Service was nice, but forgot the starter completely without even noticing or mentioning. As the main had already arrived we decided not to insist. On the positive side, the ambience is lovely and the food came fast, and even the soft refills without even asking. So overall a 4*

Make this a destination when in Vancouver. Travelling from the UK we were given the place as a must go to, by a Canadian friend and it didn’t disappoint. Great staff, wine list carefully created and the sommelier helped us find the perfect match for our food, and the food was perfect, two of our group had a pasta dish which they raved about, my friend and I had the pork belly special that was cooked perfectly. The ambience is buzzy but not overbearing, people waxing lyrical about the food no doubt. Will return if ever back in Vancouver !

They asked again when they called to confirm we were coming. Then the server asked again when we were ordering. A culinary adventure awaited us for our lunch time visit. The Korean chicken was a generous serving of lightly battered chicken, perfectly cooked and served with a not too spicy gochujang sauce and fresh coleslaw with a hint of kimchi. Absolutely delicious. The Cubano was equally tasty with layers of meat, cheese and pickles. Service was exceptional. The spicy Caesar was perfect. I highly recommend Rust Bistrobar for their creativity with their cuisine and the relaxed and welcoming ambiance.

Last Sunday, my friend and I finally tried Teatro, a restaurant I’ve walked and driven past for years. Neither of us had been before, but we love good food, and my friend, who’s training to be a sommelier, was especially excited about their extensive wine list. It seemed like the perfect spot to explore together. From the moment I arrived, the experience was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly—they took my coat and led me to our table. One standout detail? They noticed I had a purse and brought over a tiny purse table. Genius! Every restaurant should have these. Since it was Sunday, we took advantage of their special no-corkage fee and brought our own bottle of wine, which made the night even more enjoyable. We decided to order a variety of dishes to share. To start, we had the Seared Scallops and the Zucchini Salad. The scallops were perfectly cooked, served with avocado mousse, pomelo, and a touch of ginger chili. The combination of pomelo and fennel added a bright, refreshing contrast. The zucchini salad was another standout—zucchini ribbons on a ricotta base, with toasted pine nuts and charred lemon vinaigrette. The mandarin orange segments gave it a zesty twist. Next, we shared the Feature Pasta, a cacio e pepe topped with fresh black truffle. It was absolutely divine—rich, creamy, and perfectly cooked. For our main, we went with the Dry-Aged Ribeye. The steak was tender and flavorful, served on creamy polenta with sherry mushrooms and bordelaise. Each element was delicious on its own, but together, it was the perfect bite. For dessert, I had the Chocolate Pot de Crème, a rich and flavorful dish with spiced nut brittle, rosemary meringue, and passionfruit sorbet. My friend chose the Feature Dessert, a poached pear panna cotta, which they loved for its light and silky texture. Overall, Teatro was an incredible experience—amazing food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming ambiance. Highly recommend! We will be back.

Uli's Restaurant is a White Rock institution. Opened in 1986 by Uli Blume, it was one of White Rock's original waterfront restaurants and quickly became a favourite among locals for its great food and friendly atmosphere. Uli's son Tyson took over operations in 2008 and he picked up right where his father left off – providing the White Rock waterfront with a fun and relaxed place to enjoy a vibrant atmosphere, stunning water views, refreshingly simple food, an extensive international beer list, and a diverse selection of wines. My mom and I have been dining at Uli’s for years and always have a good experience. Food and service are usually good. Today our server was exceptional. Emma B was the best server I’ve not only had at Uli’s but in general, in a long time. She was helpful and attentive without being overbearing, warm, chatty and clearly knowledgeable and fond of the place she worked. She cares and it’s evident from how she engaged with us and the other guests. Bravo Emma, I hope this review makes its way to you and your superiors and that you receive the recognition and appreciation that you deserve.

We had a wonderful meal at Vineland Estates restaurant. Such warm, professional service and a creative menu that stands above many of our recent dining experiences. The value here is remarkable. We had a delicious dinner. The mushrooms on toast was the best I have ever eaten (and I’ve eaten a lot). The squid was tender & succulent. The steelhead was cooked perfectly. A most enjoyable meal.
