Libertad is a casual, chef-driven neighborhood restaurant featuring Latin American inspired cuisine.


Executive Chef Mark Mendez, whose experience includes Chicago’s most notable restaurants, pairs bold and exciting flavors for a seasonal menu of small plates ideal for sharing and experiencing the diverse mosaic of the countries that make up Latin America.


Noted mixologist Ziyad Asrar has put together a fun and creative cocktail menu while Sommelier Shebnem Ince compiled a succinct wine list that complements the menu with by the glass and bottle selections.

    Great menu with excellent flavors! Can’t go wrong if you want a night out and something that’s different than the same old restaurants that are around. They gave a complementary soup to everybody at the table upon arrival that was delicious. Good selection of cocktails and nonalcoholic beer option. Would take anyone there.

    Fantastic food. Everything we ordered was delicious. You may not expect a high end restaurant in downtown Skokie but this place is it. We'll definitely be back!

    Outstanding little restaurant tucked away in Skokie! Will definitely go back. The ambience, the server and best of all the food was truly remarkable. Highly recommend.

    Every time we have a table on the back patio, I am disappointed and annoyed that they cannot seem to get the heat stable. It is too cold when the heaters are off, too hot when they are on. It really detracts from the enjoyment of the meal.

    Excellent Latin food. Most dishes on the spicy side. Great service and lots of Vegetarian options. Only negative is it’s noisy, because the kitchen/hood is in the dining room. Overall, a lovely meal.

    Everything was great! The only advice I have is that the food, while tasty.. was very salty. My friend that was with me also mentioned how salty her food was. Other than that.. it was good. I will definitely give it another chance. Was there for dinner.

    Food was good. Really good bread. Shrimps melded well with bread. The only problem was we asked for the hummus to come first and it cam with the Brussel sprouts so Brussel sprouts were cold when we got to them.
