Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables.     Great vibes. Best anchovies toast around town. Cheeseburger was good, personally prefer brioche type buns over sesame buns. Customized old fashion really hit the spot, it was perfect. Overall good food but most importantly, the best service! Everyone was excellent, want to highlight Ollie, Douglas, older gentlemen with short hair and glasses, young female with bob and glasses. They were such a joy and I’m grateful to be served by them!

    The steak ( dry too) was amazing and cooked to perfection. We also ordered some starters and sides and every dish was superb. The ambience was just perfect for our special evening out of 3 people. Coii hi don’t recommend more highly. All of felt the same that it was fantastic and we will be back

    We were looking for somewhere to eat close to our hotel in Circular Quay and found Tapavino by chance. We are real fans of tapas and regular visitors to Spain and the Canary Isles and Tapavino did not disappoint. We were seated upstairs as we had pre-booked and even at 6.15 the place was busy. Menu offered a lovely range of familiar and not so familiar dishes. As always, we over ordered (!) but the food was gorgeous. Friendly, attentive but unobtrusive service made for a perfect final evening for us in Sydney.
