The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. In 2006, Elaine Murphy brought this much-loved spot back to life as a restaurant, championing seasonal, Irish produce. The bookshop, located on the ground floor, was retained, as were many of the old bookshelves, photos and memories. The room retains its timeless charm with stripped wood tables and floors, and Bentwood café chairs.The view remains as quintessentially Dublin as ever.The food is good, old-fashioned home cooking, with produce sourced from artisans within the island.     We had a group of 12 for my 30th Birthday on Saturday. Everything was exceptional and none of us could fault a thing. The food was delicious and the cocktails were also excellent. A special mention also for our fantastic server on the night (sorry I don’t remember his name!) who was so helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and made sure that everyone at the table had everything they needed/wanted at all times!

    Absolutely loved this place! Food was unreal, the garlic bread and sauce was amazing and bottomless! Aswell as the chips! Chicken and steak were both cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor! Staff were very friendly and helpful and kept checking to see if everything was okay and if we wanted extra chips or garlic bread or drinks etc. highly recommend to anyone looking for good food at great value for money!

    The server was great she was Asian with glasses very nice The food was delicious only issue was we asked for medium core de bouef but when it got to the table it was lukewarm, it was still fine to eat but maybe keep them under the light to keep it hot
