Discovering Italy by way of La Jolla, Marisi focuses on Italian hearth cooking with an emphasis on handmade pastas, fine wine and classic cocktails. The menu celebrates the rich diversity of cuisine from across Italy, fashioned in a time-honored tradition of handmade all day, every day. A dream that lives between the Italian and La Jolla coasts, suspended between tides instead of time — a mood more than a plot. Le Coq is James Beard Best Chef finalist Tara Monsod’s new wave French steakhouse. Inspired by the modern Parisian culinary landscape, chef Tara reinvents classic dishes through her signature approach, blending cross-cultural references and ingredients for a distinctly SoCal expression of French cuisine. Bright touches and hyper-seasonal products ground the menu with San Diego style, while nods to chef Tara’s Southeast Asian background are interwoven throughout. Located in downtown La Jolla in a 1930’s historic building with exposed brick walls, steel trusses, and a barrel-vaulted ceiling. Into this storied shell is inserted a posh 1970’s diner club.

We usually come here during the day for the view, but the food is always on point, so we tried it for an evening celebration. December in San Diego is not the typical winter weather, so we sat outside, and with all the heaters, the temperature was perfect. As always, the food did not disappoint, and our server was wonderful!!! It's of our favorite places on the water!

This was our second visit, and everything was excellent -from the beautiful holiday decor, the excellent wait staff, to the food . The server Valerie's timing was impeccable, the cocktails very generous, and even the temperature was perfect. The first time we dined here, we had a seasonal appetizer of poached peaches, prosciutto, and whipped burrata on country bread that was one of the best things I have ever eaten. We live out of state - otherwise would be dining here often.

Phenomenal experience both with service and food. We planned to try the restaurant when it opened, but somehow never had a chance to go. I’m so happy that we have an opportunity to go the other night. Such a fantastic experience. And, hour teenagers also requested to go on our next visit.
