Zio Peppe means “Uncle Joe’ in Italian, and just like a beloved “funcle” – a fun uncle, Zio Peppe will make sure all are welcome, and everybody is having a good time.Zio Peppe is a collaboration between Chef Devon Sanner and Chef Mat Cable. Our menu is anchored in Italian-American classics of pizza and pasta, but draws heavy influence from the foods and flavor profiles of Tucson and the Sonoran region.Sanner joins forces with Cable after having cooked under Tucson culinary legend Janos Wilder for the past 15 years, serving as chef at Janos, JBAR, Downtown + Cocktails, and The Carriage House.Zio Peppe, which means “Uncle Joe” in Italian, is in part a tribute to Cable’s uncle, Joe Sottosanti, who opened Tucson’s first Sicilian pizza place, Tesseo’s Pizzeria, nearly 50 years ago.

Truly a gem of Tucson. This was our first visit, so we didn't know what to expect. Based on meals at other highly regarded Tucson restaurants I didn't expect much, to be honest. Frankly, we were blown away. Everything we ordered was delicious, and a few items were truly something else. We ordered the charred broccoli expecting a fairly straightforward, and basic, starter. What we got was a dish of such complexity that we were taken aback. Another highlight was the rosemary olive oil cake. Usually olive oil cake is one of those hip menu items that never lives up to the hype. This cake was the exception. It was so moist and flavorful. When I took a bite with the cake, cream, and dark maraschino cherries (Luxardo?), it was a mouthful of heaven. We seriously considered extending our stay in Tucson one more day simply to return for dinner tomorrow. Alas, it was unrealistic. But we do plan on stopping in the next time we're in town.

A busy day for North, but our waiter was attentive and did his best to make it a very pleasant family lunch. We appreciated the quietest table in the far corner. One of our favorite places to take guests who are craving a pizza.

We used Open Table and made our reservation for Christmas lunch. We were pleasantly surprised as we drove to the restaurant. It was a great ambience. The food choices on the menu and the specials all sounded amazing. Made it hard to choose especially after our waitress Margarita shared her favorites. We decided we would just have bread before our meal because all the portions looked large. I had the freshest salad with honey mustard the house dressing. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and it was perfection. Not too rich. It was well balanced lemon crème sauce with stuffed lobster ricotta pasta. My husband and our other guest both got baked Mostaccioli. They loved it and both took home leftovers. We had tiramisu and I had vanilla and chocolate gelato with chocolate and caramel syrup which our waitress made at her recommendation. Yum!! There. Was nothing I would have changed. It was such a great meal. I'm ready to go back now and highly recommend.

Our late lunch on Christmas Eve was delicious- the waitstaff was cheerful, friendly and apologetic when the dessert that we came in for was ‘sold out’ - (the squash pie) which was very disappointing especially in a holiday eve! -though understandable ☮️

Fun experience. This was our second time at the Cowboy Cookout. All the staff are helpful and friendly. Tasty food and lots of it. Good entertainment with line dance lessons. Lovely to sit outside and eat under the stars. Would definitely come back when we are in the area again.
