Sonya Cote, the James Beard Foundation WEL alum and Texas chef known for Eden East, now adds Store House Market & Eatery in downtown Bastrop to her portfolio.  A proponent for local purveyors and a pioneer of using locally-grown ingredients for both nutritional and environmental purposes, Cote transformed a nearly 175-year-old, historic two-building property at the corner of Main and Pine into a seasonally-driven restaurant and market that will showcase the local area’s bounty. The a la carte menu features rotating mains and sides, using ingredients sourced from Eden East Farm and other Bastrop producers.

Since 1987, we have been making our vision a reality. Our family's goal is to bring a festive atmosphere and fresh flavors to the fun city of Bastrop. Our inspiration comes from the town of Chapala, one of the beautiful cities that surrounds the largest lake in Jalisco, Mexico. Our authentic cuisine originates from our family recipes from the central and coastal regions of Mexico; Mainly the states of Zacatecas and Jalisco. Together with our extended family and staff, we strive to create a genuine traditional Mexican experience. We offer over 200 tequilas and other agave distilled spirits. From our family to yours, buen provecho and muchas gracias. We welcome our guests with a heartfelt greeting, as we say in Mexico: “Mi casa es su casa.”

Just as in Italy where the food is genuine and locally sourced, you'll find the same at Intero with farm-to-table Italian cuisine. At its core, the concept behind Italian cooking stems from necessity and gratitude for regionally available ingredients. Intero, translating to “whole’’ in Italian, embraces this concept utilizing local ingredients from their entirety, paired with traditional Italian techniques and cooking sensibilities. This naturally sustainable approach allows for innovative, yet familiar dishes that highlight the seasonal availability of what’s grown and raised in Texas. Additionally, Intero provides an authentic nod to the sweet side of Italy offering specialty house-made artisan chocolates (including truffles, barks, and sipping chocolate) along with other traditional Italian desserts in classic, seasonal and unique flavors. We went for a Galentine‘s but the service really put a damper on our evening. The restaurant is small and somewhat dark, the noise level is medium so it’s great for conversation amongst friends or an intimate dinner. We had the bucatini, which was excellent. The pizza was very good as well with a crispy crust. We also ordered the shoulder, which I don’t know if I would recommend. Th ricotta whip and the short rib appetizer, both excellent. Small plates, good price point, good for sharing. The service was the only poor part of this experience. The waiter was rushing, kept asking to remove plates while we were still eating. Tossed the dessert menu apparently annoyed. Either bad day for waiter or this is their culture to rush.
