Elizabeth and I were very excited to open our restaurant in Downtown Stuart. After years of visiting our parents our hearts led us back here each time we considered a different location. Our son Taylor (our Executive Chef) and I, both have a culinary education and all three of us are extremely passionate about quality food,drinks and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoy taking great care of our guests. “the Gafford” is named after my grandparents who taught us how to enjoy life, have fun and laugh (especially at ourselves). My grandfather was in the Air Force and hospitality business all of his life and taught me so much about business, cooking and hospitality. I can remember when I was young visiting my grandparents on their farm. My grandfather used to teach me how to grill. My favorite dish to cook together was a giant Ribeye steak. On our menu, that is our signature item and we call it “the Gafford.” Welcome to the Gafford where casual meets upscale.

The Stuart Boathouse is a local's favorite waterfront dining location. The beautifully restored 1920's Restaurant is located directly on the river in downtown Stuart next to the band shell. Specializing in fresh caught seafood, oysters, sushi, as well as many favorites for the land lovers. Accompany dinner with a great bottle from our wine list or one of our signature cocktails.     The ambiance and service are spot on. Although our dinner choices were not to extravagant in that two of us had the burger, it was good. The presentation of the scallops and grits was great but the food was not too hot. The taste was good but a little salty. Overall it was a good choice for a business meal.

    As always, a wonderful experience dining at Oak and Ember in Stuart. We were two couples, each with one person celebrating a birthday. We had let them know in advance, and from the moment we arrived, they made the evening special. Our server, Mariam, was delightful and took excellent care of us. Everything was great, from drinks, to dinner, to dessert. A perfect evening out!

    Our first visit, their first night with a new menu. Our food was unbelievably good, tasty and creative flavors in the mango salmon. Prime rib was good. Service including attention from the manager was awesome. We definitely recommend this place and will return when we are in Stuart again.
