Restaurants near Loughwood Meeting House

We wanted to enjoy a dinner before the restaurant closes next weekend. We have been here so many times before and will miss the food, the drink and the fabulous food. Thank you.

We choose a good day. Very quiet. Good food, good service and good value for money. We go there twice a year to meet up relatives. Never had a bad day-oh and they love dogs in there as well. Just as well as we take our Staffie, Douglas with us. He thinks it’s good as well even though it’s called the Greyhound!

Harbour is our local and is always good. Today our family and friend had an excellent time. The service was exceptional, warm and helpful. The food was brilliant with very good portions.

Easily found by following signs from the A35, just east of Axminster. Felt welcomed, service was friendly and informal. Fairly limited choice, but quite reasonable for a small venue with a single chef. And I was tempted by everything on the menu. Opted for two-course lunch, which was excellent value. Thoroughly enjoyed our food. Presentation was spot-on. I particularly liked it that the dishes on offer seemed to be ones I could aspire to prepare myself, given inspiration, the recipes and a lot of practice, rather than "fine dining", very much in line with the River Cottage ethos. We intend to return to enjoy other meals in future.

Delicious food with wonderful friendly & attentive service - 6 of us 3 couples - it would be lovely if there was a nice circular table! A bit of a draught from the door opening into the skittle alley but understandable as it was skittle night! Such a cold night with snow still on the ground but the ambience was cosy with the log burner lit. Some nice soft furnishings would be good with some cushions around the back of the benches. All in all a lovely evening - we’ll be back .
