North Carolina native, award-winning chef, and New York Times best-selling author Vivian Howard will introduce her latest culinary concept, Theodosia, at The Sanderling Resort, slated to open Memorial Day weekend. Every element of this new dining destination will reflect the culture and history of the Outer Banks, creating a connection to a distinctive place and time.Named for Theodosia Burr—daughter of the infamous Aaron Burr, wife of South Carolina Governor Joseph Alston, and the subject of centuries-old folklore about a ship lost at sea near the Outer Banks—Theodosia will evoke mystery and intrigue. The waterfront setting invites guests to ponder her fate as she journeyed from SC to NY in the early 19th century. The dining room will feature rich, feminine textures, soft lighting, and views of the Currituck Sound’s endless horizon. The menu will celebrate the region’s salt marshes and fishing heritage, blending tradition with Howard’s signature innovative Southern cuisine.

I recently visited this restaurant for the first time, and it was an amazing experience! The food was top-notch-especially the scallop dish, which was incredibly delicious. The drinks were expertly crafted, and the ambiance set the perfect vibe for a relaxed, enjoyable meal. Definitely a place I'd recommend, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

All the food we ordered was very good. Our only issue was to get any bread at all for the table, it was charge of over SIX dollars. It was a baguette. When I ordered mussels, I was told it came with no bread ( steamed mussels always come with bread) and that if I wanted any bread with it, the charge was $4 extra. REALLY? What's the deal with the bread? For such a nice restaurant with high end prices, a little "free" bread goes a long way for a good customer experience. NONE of the higher end restaurants in this area charge extra for that. Having said all this, I DO want to commend the waitress who was fun and attentive. She did a great job and made the overall experience a big plus.

Lots of nice menu options. Enjoyed the roasted garlic bisque. Focaccia was equally lovely. Unique bourbon selections (they have Blanton’s)!
