A favorite Southwest Virginia landmark, The Farmhouse Restaurant has served the New River Valley since 1963. The authentic farm house, originally part of the Ridinger Estate, was build in the 1800's. In the early 1970's, an old train caboose was added to provide a unique dining area. North Carolina chef and restaurateur, Jim Noble founded Rooster’s: A Noble Grille with the intention of being relevant without being trendy and to impress without being pretentious. That commitment has carried us through two decades and continues to lead us on today.Knowing that simple food is harder to execute given there is nowhere to hide the flaws, we go to great lengths to source quality ingredients from local farmers and purveyors. We then take all the time necessary to develop their flavors —using both European and modern techniques—always working from scratch. Our menu features tried and true staples like our spit-roasted chicken cooked over open fire as well as progressive daily specials and elevated Small Plates featuring Executive Chef Brad Pennell. At Rooster’s, you’ll always find something new served with an honest commitment and consistently warm care.

Another memorable meal at Château Morrissette. The atmosphere was lovely with plenty of Christmas cheer. Our food was delicious as always. The wine was wonderful and priced the same as in the retail shop. Who does that? Our server, Sadie, was amazing. We want to go back just to have more time chatting with her. This is our favorite restaurant for special occasions!

Exceptional service. Dinner is more of a fine dining experience. I have eaten there for brunch a number of times. After all the big holiday meals, we had some small plates to share and a glass of wine. Even though we were not eating an entree, our wait person took as much time and care with us as she did the larger parties around us. Crispy brussell sprouts, calamari, and salads satisfied us without overfilling us. The honey with the calamari was an exceptional combination with the cocktail sauce, a little sweet, a little spice and savory. I love the crispy brussell sprouts any time of the day or evening. My friend had a beet salad which she enjoyed. She loves beets and the golden beets in this salad were not to "beety" even for me to sample. If you love beets, you should get this salad. This restaurant stays on our rotation in every season. Can't wait for spring when most likely we'll be back again for brunch and a family birthday. Cheers!

The Green Valley Grill is just wonderful! We stopped by on our way back to Durham after visiting the Christmas light show at Kersey Valley Farms. I had been wanting to take my husband there after eating lunch with friends on a Greensboro day trip. The food did not disappoint, and the cocktails were some of the best we've ever had. We enjoyed a selection of small plates, and the crab-spinach dip was especially good, with the lovely sharp cheese balancing the slightly sweet crab and fresh spinach. The only hitch is that it was VERY BUSY when we arrived, and we were seated in a remote corner of the bar instead of the main dining room, despite having reservations. No biggie, I've worked in the food industry, so I get it. Our server overlooked us for about 15 minutes, and we got pretty hungry. So, my husband spoke briefly to the GM about getting some food, and then they overwhelmed us with attention and gave us one of the small plates at no charge. This is how you turn customers into loyal patrons. We would drive to Greensboro just to have dinner here -- it's that good!

I would only add signage to the building itself. The road is marked but the restaurant has no visible signs so we drove around wondering if it was someone’s large mountain home or not. No lights and no signs.
