The restaurant was founded in 1895 on rue de la Coutellerie, a street that owes its name to the many active cutlers. Its current name is more recent, no doubt due to the offbeat humour of one of its previous owners! Some highest highs and very lows here. Scallops three ways were incredible…..but lamb three ways was close to inedible—the loin was accompanied by a large pool of gelatinous squid ink, and the lamb leg sausage presentation made it look like it required a plastic baggie. The service was attentive until the end, when we couldn’t get our check….also, sauces were poured sloppily, and our server was none too happy about having to speak in English. Memorable in many ways, not all positive.
