Thank you for visiting Kenichi Izakaya Carbondale. An Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese pub. At sake breweries during the late 18th century, people in Japan began using sake kegs as stools, and snacks were served. This small plate menu was designed to encourage sharing amongst friends and family. Food is prepared in multiple kitchens and arrives as it is ready to ensure freshness. We make most of our menu in-house, from scratch, and use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.If no reservations are available, please note that we do have walk in apcae at our bar and sushi bar. Vegan chicken parmesan is still excellent. Fun vibe, good dining. Keep adding vegan options, and we'll keep coming back. Would love to see a dessert like the incredible vegan pistachio cheesecake that Catch-LA has, with luxardo cherries & coconut sorbet. Nice to see the same great staff & management like Tracy. See you next time.

I just want to give a huge shoutout to the amazing team at IZAKAYA for an unforgettable experience. The service was absolutely top notch so attentive and welcoming and the food? Out of this world! Every bite was packed with incredible flavors that totally blew us away. From the presentation to the vibe of the place, you can tell there’s so much heart and passion behind it all.
