One of the prettiest places to eat in San Francisco or anywhere for that matter especially at Christmas. Lovely dining experience. Dining room is pre fixe but lots of offerings make it a great deal before you add wine/cocktails but it’s a great bar list so splurge! Service is excellent although watch they don’t rush you through your courses. A great place to take friends or visitors in town or for any celebration. The bar and kitchen view seats are great for people watching.

I ate at Akiko’s for the lunch omekase and it was superb. I also had the sake pairings and they were original and well matched with the meal. The meal began with 5 courses of Otsumami, which were lovely small courses and not really what you would think of as sushi. They were all very tasty but the standout was the milk bread toast with toro and caviar. Then came 7 different courses of nigiri, each of one piece. They were all fresh and delicious. My favorite was the uni. But the melt in your mouth toro was the epitome of what toro should be. Even the green tea ice cream for dessert was especially good. I wasn’t cheap but I can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely fantastic! Our server was so attentive, just like waiters in every restaurant used to be in the old days. He seemed genuinely interested to engage with us, and he really cared about our ordering process and our enjoyment of the meal. LUCA went out of his way to make sure we had a most enjoyable time. After every interaction with him, he ended it with “thank you“. Very classy in my opinion. I loved it that without our really realizing it he would gently sweep away the crumbs that had accumulated on the table cloth. Our dessert wasn’t to our liking, even though he had suggested it, and he comped it for Us That is so great. The overall ambience is very tasteful the view of the Bay and the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge is stunning. I wish the hostesses had been a little cheerier …these young ladies they can’t even break a smile. Yes it is expensive, but the food is top-notch, absolute quality, and the service is stupendous. Five stars and two thumbs up!
