Overall the experience were great. The only thing was the waiting for our table. We got the reservation at 7:30 pm but got there early and we got a text saying out table was ready at 6:55 pm. We were told it will be a minute or so but did not get our table close to our reservation time. I know it was busy around Christmas time but don't send a text saying the table was ready and then made us wait for another 30 minutes. My wife and kids wanted to leave but I told them they were busy around this time, so we decided to stay. What made it GREAT was out service person!

A perfect dinner (seated at counter) at Nostrana. Went on a Thursday - gnocchi night. I usually don’t choose gnocchi, but am now a convert - so pillowy and tender, and the clam sauce I chose was buttery, seasoned greatness. Our server was friendly, warm, and efficient and suggested an alternative wine by the glass that was from next door that was so good we bought a bottle to take home. Consistently amazing, and impressed my husband for date night.

Super busy on Christmas... at least if your reservations were between 3:00 and 4:00. They also didn't stage the tables well. Our server told us they gave her 5 tables all at once. It was almost a half hour after being seated before she even took our drink orders. We were done with appetizers before our meal order was taken. Other than the length of time it took to be served and waiting for water to be refilled, dinner was good. Calamari and Brie were our appetizers... the cloves of garlic with the brie were spot on. One daughter had the stuffed salmon that she enjoyed. My other daughter, mom, and I had different fettuccine. Mine was salmon and wild mushrooms, and the salmon was in decent sized chunks. My boyfriend had steak, which he said was the perfect medium rare. All in all it was a wonderful meal.

We had our meal here on Christmas Eve. This restaurant was SLAMMED, but they handled it extremely well. We never felt like we weren't being attended to. The food was excellent, salad bar continuously being refreshed. Some of the meats weren't exceptional, but for a night that was jam-packed our wait was less than expected and service was great.

The Chilean Seabass was excellent, along with the beet salad and the wonderful flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Our waiter was most helpful in making suggestions for my dietary issues. Sitting next to the window, even on a rainy day was beautiful. I highly recommend Portland City Grill for their outstanding service, excellent food, and of course, the view!
