- HHarryHertfordshire •6 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoTucked away close to Newcastle's thousand-year-old castle, the French Quarter is a gem that provides a memorable dining experience. It offers a harmonious blend of exceptional food, warm service, and an inviting ambience. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with French-inspired dishes that highlight a perfect marriage of flavours and freshness. On my visit, I began with an exquisite Rillettes de Porc with some off-menu toasted bread. I followed this with an indulgent Bœuf Bourguignon accompanied by a tangy Gratin Dauphinois and fresh Haricot Vert. The staff were an absolute delight—attentive, friendly, and passionate about their work. They were happy to make recommendations, explaining food combinations with detail and enthusiasm. Every interaction felt personal, adding an extra layer of warmth to my visit. The restaurant offered subtle touches of a French bistro, a cosy yet sophisticated charm. It's perfect for both intimate dinners and lively group get-togethers. It's not budget dining, but the quality of the food, impeccable service, and overall experience justify the cost. Portions are generous, and each dish feels crafted with care. Whether you're a fan of French cuisine or just looking for a memorable culinary experience, the French Quarter delivers on all fronts. I will certainly return.More infoThe French QuarterPrice: Expensive• French• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.8

All three courses that we chose were delicious and the meal came with 2 glasses of fizzy. The restaurant has an interesting history and had a pleasant atmosphere.More infoBlackfriars RestaurantPrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.6

- JJaneCumbria •1 review4.0Dined 6 days agoLovely meals, however would have been 5 stars if the veg had been hot. Also we had the food brought to table but had to ask for cutlery. All that said it was still very nice and we would definitely go again.More infoPooley bridge innPrice: Moderate• British• Penrith•4.4
- CColinDurham/County Durham •9 reviews4.0Dined on 13 Nov 2024Welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Dogs welcome. Food always good and tasty. All local produce. Selection of wines , gins and cask beers. Outside seating when weather permits. Problem with smokey wood burning fire did not detract from an enjoyable experience.More infoThe Rose & Crown at RomaldkirkPrice: Moderate• British• Barnard Castle•4.4
