Behind an unmarked door adjacent to the wine room, guests are transported to District 1 (China Town) in Saigon via Blackhouse’s 28-seat restaurant-within-a-restaurant, LSXO. A spinoff of the Little Sister brand (Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach & Downtown Los Angeles), LSXO is love letter to the culture, heritage, and lineage of Vietnam (Vuong’s relatives hail from the region). While Little Sister is known for its French Vietnamese menu, LSXO follows the same Southeast Asian inspiration with a more refined feel. “There is no signage for LSXO—you can spot the entrance of it tucked into a section inside Bluegold, but you’ll have to know it’s there. While Bluegold is light, bright, and airy, LSXO is its darker, edgier little sister,” says Vuong. “Both restaurants operate out of the same kitchen, though the menus are completely different.     Excellent food, prompt and friendly service, beautiful setting. We don’t go here as often as we should but when we have out of town guests, this is one of our go to places. Among our favorites: escargots/bone marrow/paté, papaya salad, crispy shrimps. Get an order of white rice - whatever their recipe is, it’s delicious (I suspect they add a little bit of beurre bretel!).

    My wife and I have always wanted to try Nobu. It was a very enjoyable experience. We had a table facing the marina (at night). It was a well heated area with minimal noise from nearby tables. The food was coming at a timely manner and our server was very attentive especially for our first time describing the cold/hot dishes. We ended up ordering the spicy tuna with crispy rice, wagyu goyza/tacos, and several other rolls (salmon sashimi/yellowtail +jalapeno). We were full where we didn’t have room for dessert. My wife enjoyed the mango passion fruit drink. Overall this experience will lead us to multiple returning visits.
