Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. Our family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving this year at the Desmonde. Everyone from my 91yo Mom to my vegan 25yo neice and all the rest of us really enjoyed the food. The price was reasonable and it was so nice this year to skip the grocery shopping, housecleaning, table setting, food prepping & cooking and especially the cleanup at my home like all the years before. We all said we would do it again.

I have been wanting to go to Cedar Hollow Inn for a long time and finally made it! What a wonderful experience from the ease of making the reservation, to the hosttess greeting to the phenomenal older waittress and the food was outstanding. I will go again, and again. Wish I went years ago :)
