Restaurants near University of British Columbia

Thanks to Tate, Jordan and Andy for ensuring our experience was awesome despite the occasion being less than celebratory.

We tried Wildlight for this first time to host a guest speaker in our department for dinner. We were a party of 8. The table service was attentive and prompt, with excellent attention to guest issues such as allergies and dietary preferences. The food, when it arrived, was delicious: original, creative combinations of ingredients showing excellent technique and good flavour. We all appreciated the highlighting of local ingredients. However, the food was very slow to come out of the kitchen. We arrived around 7:30, and did not receive our main dishes until almost 9:00. The kitchen was obviously backed up, even though it was a weeknight and the restaurant was not full. I would recommend Wildlight for creative cuisine using local ingredients, but be prepared to wait... and wait... and wait.

The food was excellent. I will definitely eat there again.

Excellent service — first and foremost. All of the dishes we had were very flavourful, and good portion sizes. The pear salad and squash ragu were my favourite dishes. Cocktails were spot on and wine list was concise and well priced. Can’t wait to return!
