Exposed brick walls and dark timber are complemented by dim lighting from vintage chandeliers. Holding fewer than 60 guests, it’s this old world ambience that sets Coal & Cedar apart from Newcastle’s bar scene.Ethan and Ryan are the team behind the venture. In 2014, they packed their bags and moved from Sydney to the state’s largest regional city to work on their new dream bar. They found the perfect site on Hunter Street, which was just dingy enough to house a Prohibition-style speakeasy. Transforming the space with taxidermy, eccentric images and many a bottle of booze.

    I had an amazing experience! The service was incredibly personal, everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the sides were absolutely delicious.     Had a lovely Christmas dinner in the bistro. Our 2 year old son was well looked after with a colouring book and the selection for him was great. Food was lovely, service was really friendly. Overall a wonderful Christmas experience!

    My husband and my self had a great experience at Tower Lodge Restaurant Pokolbin when we dined there on Christmas Day for a memorable lunch. The service was amazing. Food was delicious. Staff very friendly and efficient the ambiance beautiful. We will sing the praises of Tower Lodge to all. We hope to return again in the near future.
