La Chaumière is as close as it gets to dining in a French country inn. Celebrating 48 years, La Chaumière features traditional dishes like escargots en coquille, boudin blanc, quenelles of pike, cassoulet and Grand Marnier souffle. Chef Javier's specials reflect a modern approach to seasonal produce, seafood and game with favorites like baked oysters, Dover sole and our speciality, housemate Boudin Blanc. La Chaumière has won the 100 Best Restaurants award 29 times since 1978! We will be serving Al fresco as soon as the weather permits, please reserve, outdoor space is limited. Parking is available at the Four Seasons Hotel for $30 with validation stamp.

                                                                                  We come to La Chaumière every year for my birthday, this is the only place where I can find French authentic cuisine in DC. It is prepared with perfection, we have never been disappointed. The service is excellent. Noise level can be a bit high, mostly when you sit next to a table with loud talkers. We are low talkers, so it was annoying sometimes to not hear what my husband was saying. But overall we had an excellent meal!

Guarding its traditions, and outstanding classic recipes, the charming atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food all make this restaurant a favorite. Experiment with nouvelle cuisine elsewhere: La Chaumiere delivers on point, from delightful soufflés to game and beef specialties. Especially nice in wintertime with the fireplace aglow.

                                                                                  Our table was placed right next to the waiters desk, therefore the waiters were constantly surrounding our table, talking, standing there, tipping into this order machine. Very annoying. The food was not the best at that evening, maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed. We were disappointed.

                                                                                  The food was great as always, and the service good but we were stashed in the attic despite booking at least a month ahead. We were all by ourselves with zero ambience. One of the reasons I picked this restaurant for our Christmas Eve. Dinner was for the lovely fireplace and cozy atmosphere downstairs.
