Arrived on time for a 530 reservation before at 700 Laker game. Restaurant was busy but not at capacity. Server was inattentive and careless. Finally had to get up and get our own soy sauce from another table that had just left. By 645 even the edamame hadn’t made it to the table. The waitress offered to take dishes off the bill then delivered the bill with none of the dishes taken off. The manager couldn’t have cared less. Of the dishes that actually made it to the table, lowest quality and care of prep of any Katsuya in LA. What an absolute failure of management.

We made a reservation for 7pm and there was a hockey game at the arena next door so it was super crowded and super loud inside. We were seated right away and our server was very good. After the game started at 7:30 the crowd thinned out and we were able to have a normal volume conversation instead of yelling at each other from 2 feet away. The food was prepared and served quickly and everything was delicious. The chocolate cake dessert recommended by our server was sooo good.

A trip to conventions, sports, concerts in L.A. isn't complete without a visit to Katsuya. The food is is always good and the staff is really cool. Regular dining or sitting at the bar before/after the game - it's never been a bad time for us. Make reservations and get the crispy rice.

I was extremely disappointed with our recent dining experience at Katsuya. Our server was unfamiliar with the menu, unable to pronounce basic items, brought us an incorrect bottle of sake without explanation and forgot our beers. His service was slow and the kitchen appeared disorganized — silly errors, forgetfulness and the food arrived intermittently without any clarification or explanation. It would have been nice to know what we were eating. Considering the high price tag of $500 for my family of four, this experience was unacceptable. I suggest you to improve your staff's training and service standards. *Note - we were also celebrating a birthday, details were put on the reservation — not one person addressed this.
