   We have visited Haywood's many times, and know that a reservation is a must. We arrived at our reservation time, but the host advised that our table was not ready, as the prior party was lingering. We sat at the bar waiting on our table. As the time passed, we received no update until half an hour past our seating time, saying that they were getting our table ready. Another 15 minutes passed before we were seated, and then it was another 15 before we were offered water. Our server took her time getting our orders and at the end of the meal we had to wait quite a while to get our check, although the restaurant had significantly emptied by then. On the plus side, our food came out quickly and was perfectly prepared and delicious. Other than the initial apology from the host, there were no other attempts made to rectify the situation. I understand that it's difficult to ask guests who overstay their welcome to leave, but also Haywood's reservation policy is clearly stated on the website, and I would've expected some level of expeditiousness or other apologetic actions given the restaurant's reputation as the top fine dining establishment in Lexington.

   We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Heywoods recently. Our server, Taylor, was terrific. Very personable and attentive. The menu is very small but seems to be carefully curated to have something for everyone, and the bartender, who made me a mojito mock tail, was excellent! All of the waitstaff was attentive. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with a gorgeous coffered ceiling beautiful lit.

   My wife and I both had the Eggs Florentine. When it arrived, it was lukewarm at best, and the English muffins were soggy instead of being crisp. The taste was good and I’m sure it would’ve been fine if it had been served soon after it was plated. However, it appeared to me the restaurant was understaffed, and apparently our food had been sitting for a while before they brought it to us. My wife also had a bowl of berries and they were excellent.

   Bourbon French toast 4.5/4 (4.5/4 in other words, it was better than I expected.)  Our server was Taylor. She did an excellent job.

    Food was really good and they did an outstanding job of accommodating 2 extra people that came with us last minute. It is our go to spot in Lexington!
