We had the pie and cod loin for mains. For starter we had the prawns and the ham hock. All was delicious! Bill came to £85 without drinks, which is expensive for pub food but as I mentioned, it was tasty so no complaints

Not the best experience this time. The service was very slow to start but maybe the waiters were changing shifts, since we had different people serving us at the beginning. The young man who turned out to be our permanent waiter was very nice but the girls before him were a bit vacant and not too efficient. The food was average-we have had better times here where food was converted. I just think they’ve got too many covers and not enough staff to provide a good quality meal for every customer. They could really do something fabulous with the outside decor.

As much as I thought the food was first class I can not believe you get a pie and mash with no veg at all , I may have missed it on menu (I don’t know) but you shouldn’t get pie and mash with no veg whatever the occasion

Super busy pub with a fantastic atmosphere. We came for the famous pie and it didn’t disappoint. Followed up by the amazing minster light show. Good light in Lovely York.
