Grünauer offers a classic Viennese gasthaus menu in the beautiful, historic Freighthouse. Located just north of Union Station in KC's premier dining and arts neighborhood- The Crossroads, Grünauer has been serving authentic Austrian and Central European cuisine since 2010 (with a focus on German and Hungarian as well). A beautiful biergarten, a gorgeous full bar and a lofted event space all add to the ambience and character of this KC classic. Make your reservation today! Classic dishes such as Hungarian beef gulasch (goulash), wiener schnitzel, apple strudel and more are always available. Frequent seasonal changes to our menu allow us to incorporate local produce, hiqh quality proteins and other items that are not available year round.

      Starting with a dry sherry and ending with a cafe au lait and a Pavlova, dinner was stupendous. We both had the Wiener schnitzel, which was delicious with the lingonberries. The soup de jour was cream of mushroom - we were happy we ordered it.

      Great food in a cool historic setting. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. Loved the schnitzel, the German potato salad, cucumbers and apple strudel. A must try!
