Grünauer offers a classic Viennese gasthaus menu in the beautiful, historic Freighthouse. Located just north of Union Station in KC's premier dining and arts neighborhood- The Crossroads, Grünauer has been serving authentic Austrian and Central European cuisine since 2010 (with a focus on German and Hungarian as well). A beautiful biergarten, a gorgeous full bar and a lofted event space all add to the ambience and character of this KC classic. Make your reservation today! Classic dishes such as Hungarian beef gulasch (goulash), wiener schnitzel, apple strudel and more are always available. We were regulars at this fantastic restaurant until we moved two years ago. Every time we return, Grünaeur is one of our first stops. The food, service, and friendly atmosphere make it a real treat. Highly recommended!!!!

This is a must if you are in the area. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We sat at a table in the bar. It wasn’t noisy but busy. The waitress did a great job of helping us decide on appetizers, main courses, dessert and drinks. We will definitely go again. It was absolutely delightful!

We were seated close to our reserved time. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cocktail and beer selection was excellent. The food selection was focused on the theme of the restaurant and everything we ordered was delicious.

Food was incredible—had the beet salad which was amazing and fresh homemade bread! The pork schnitzel was delicious and even Krampus came and visited the tables!!!

We enjoyed great service and great food at Grünauer. Our server was prompt to welcome us, friendly, and checked in often. The walleye fish was perfection: lightly crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. It was a lovely experience for me to have an extensive gluten-free menu. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner very much!
