Service was Excellent. Fried clams were overcooked and dark brown crispy critters ! Tartar sauce was horrible! Tasted like watery cheap mayonnaise!! Coleslaw was delicious but too much liquid (had to drain it!! Oysters were delicious … even though they serve without a tiny oyster fork! Then when I asked it took 10 minutes for them to find one. Which I thought was odd being an oyster restaurant. The table next to me said they never were given tiny forks just big dinner forks for the oysters.¿¿¿

Food was tepid, not hot. Really average to poor quality. However, the oysters and chilled shrimp were excellent.

After a hiatus of many, many years, two friends and I decided to have dinner at the Oyster Bar. It was like a time-travel adventure. Nothing had changed (in a good way). Our meals were very good, one commenting that the Manhattan clam chowder was the best she'd ever had. We all had seafood entrees that were fresh and well prepared, particularly the crab cake. Desserts were surprisingly good. The service was excellent all around. Our server was helpful, attentive, and fun. He clearly knew how to read the room as I observed his skill with other tables around us. Be prepared for the noise level. It's raucus. Vaulted, tiled ceilings, while stunning, amplify sound. The prices are definitely higher than one might expect, but that's the price for dining in an historic location. An enjoyable, if expensive, return.

Great selection of fresh oysters with all the trimmings. Can’t beat the service or ambiance but the grilled oysters were rubbery and inedible. Also the martinis weren’t cold enough ask for extra chilled.

This is a New York classic. The seafood is always fresh and varied and the service is a team sport.

The oysters were great. We also ordered two fish dishes that were overcooked. Service was lacking. Would go there for oysters and that’s it.
