   I’ve been wanting to give Gjelina a try for months. The restaurant has a creative menu (something for everyone!), good food, nice vibes, but VERY poor service overall (e.g., servers were minimally engaged, forgot food and drink items, never followed up, etc.). We came to the conclusion that poor service is likely due to the restaurant automatically charging 20% gratuity in the final bill—there simply isn’t incentive to work for a tip. As a result, I don’t think we will be returning.

   Laid back and casual, but service was well below. Not on top of the stuff, wrong orders, and slow with everything.

   Our server seemed annoyed. We asked for small alterations of our sandwiches – just removing the aïoli from the sandwich and were told that there are absolutely no substitutions and when we asked why he said something like “those are the rules - don’t kill the messenger”. He ended up bringing a side of the sauce and said that he could do that because it was also the sauce for the fries. So odd. Service took a really long time too. They already include the gratuity which made sense because our server did not earn it at all.  Good food and great ambience. Service was just lackluster at best.

   Got street seating and it was cold and we missed out on the atmosphere which is why we love this restaurant.

   Food was great and the ambiance is vibrant in a very bustling part of Venice. A bit hard to get our waiters attention when the check was needed, but totally fine. We had the Little Gem salad which was delicious and the frites and pizza for lunch. Both of those were tasty and high quality, not super remarkable, but still very solid.
