   Food was very average considering the price. My friend’s pasta didn’t come out hot so we had to ask for it to be heated (and we’ll usually not say anything!). I also got the toffee carrot cake and it was room temp and DRY to the point of being mealy. Additionally, it was frustrating because I kept getting bumped into by waiters or staff going in between tables on both sides of me (it was tight in there) or behind me. It happened at least 5 times. Service was great, everyone was smiling and they were more than willing to reheat my friend’s food, but considering that the service was the only true positive of my experience—I wouldn’t go there again.

   We had a hearty greeting at the door and were taken to our favorite table. We ordered one old favorite and one new favorite which was making another appearance on the specials menu, slightly modified (but still with those glorious mushrooms.) The food arrived hot and wonderful, beverage refills were right on time, and we were surrounded by other diners who seemed to be having just as good a time as we were. All stars all around!

   Francesca’s is one of my favorites and one of the places I always try and go to while in Chicago. Meals are very consistent and ambiance is enjoyable. Pollo Arrosto Romana is to die for.

   Ambiance was very nice. Our Burrata appetizer was excellent and the main course was outstanding. Our server was very pleasant attentive. Next time in Chicago this will be one of our stops.

   Either server was really slow or he had too many tables to serve. No bread service, even when we reminded our server. Not sure if he was a server or the bartender because he spent ALOT of time behind the bar making drinks.

   We ate downstairs where our server was also the bar tender. We were sat and waited a long time for anyone to speak to us. The label next to us who sat after us got water and bread before anyone spoke to us. We had to ask for bread. The server said we had to wait for it to come out of the oven, however when we got it it was cold. Drinks were empty and had to ask for refills which took forever even though the bar was 8 steps from our table. Someone in our party does not drink and asked if the bartender could make a mocktail to which he said no, but did offer a Shirley Temple. Overall the atmosphere was great, the restaurant is beautiful, but the service downstairs kind of ruined it.

    I never expect much on New Year's Eve. However, Franchesca's went over and above in terms of quality, service, and price. We had a wonderful time - never rushed and the food was delicious.
