South Block is a North-Carolina inspired BBQ hall and brewery on the edge of Mission, in Calgary. Upstairs you’ll find a large dining room, 20-seat bar, and a year-round indoor/outdoor beer garden. Downstairs hosts our stage, live music hall, and brewerey – where we brew our entire draft lineup from classic staples like our Pilsner, Lager, and IPAs, to our unique seasonal Peach Bourbon Ale and Mango Wheat Ale.Behind the bar, we run a hand-crafted cocktail program and offer a whiskey list of over 200 varietals, including American, Canadian, Irish, Scottish, and Japanese whiskeys.However, the biggest draw has to be our slow-smoked barbecue menu. Great food and service as always. We got their famous cheese toast, table side Cesar salad and steaks. New York Strip for me, filet for the lady. Cooked to perfection of course. We had baked potatoes for our sides and the server brought us extra toppings. Top drawer. We ended the night with their key lime pie. Delicious. If you’re in to mixed drinks, try their old fashioned. It’s one of the best in town.

My friend invited me for the high tea as a birthday gift. It was very enjoyable. Good choice of teas would like to have seen maybe a couple more sandwiches less sweets, but I do understand that the menu changes depending on the time of year we are looking forward very much to coming back in the spring and the summer. Beautiful building to have an English high tea in and the staff were delightful.

You cannot beat the Vintage Chophouse. Exceptional food, service, ambience. Love the lounge atmosphere. 14 oz Rib eye best around. My wife had the 8oz tenderloin Oscar, says it’s the best she’s ever had. Great wine recommendations by our server. Top notch. One of my favourite places for years.
