The restaurant has a decent wooden décor, constructed with 300-years old barn wood from Brook Field's farm. The restaurant is named after America’s most famous founding father, Benjamin Franklin. While he was pinnacle in America’s birth, he also became the first ambassador to France. While on trips to Paris, he would wine and dine with the best of them and when he returned, he would bring back the French culture, food and wine, and share it with our new nation. Dishes like Potato Lyonnaise and Crème Brulée were the first of his favorites he shared with America. The Benjamin reflects that bridged gap between the two countries’ cultures. The restaurant and bar is french-inspired, but uniquely American. It sits in Ridgefield's historic district in a 1875 house, but the interiors are modern, elegant and new. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. The ambiance was natural and magically perfect! The food arrived fairly quickly, fresh and tasty. The staff are all friendly and we didn’t feel pressured to leave. The cafe is situated within a beautiful store setting which works great in my opinion. I purchased nice faux candles in the store section before leaving. I can honestly say we had a wonderful time walking around and looking at all the items and plantings they had available before leaving. Would I recommend this restaurant? Absolutely!!!

Has the lunch menu which is great value: mushroom veloute and branzino a la plancha. The dining room was full at lunchtime on a weekday which was surprising. Service was nevethless efficient and dishes were served promptly and cooked to perfection. Never a surprise at L"Escale.
