Best Neighbourhood Gem Restaurants in Tioga

As always Marks was wonderful. We love coming here! Our server (I can’t remember his name) was spectacular. Never wanted for anything and he made sure we had drinks without asking and checked in frequently. We had the pickled beet risotto and it was spectacular! Glad we went with the recommendation. As long as Marks is around it will forever be our go-to for wonderful food and service!

We had a delightful experience at The Braised Onion. The most wonderful things were the genial and knowledgeable service from Joanne and the second was the quality of the food. We had both the Poached Pear Salad (the pear the perfect sweetness to compliment the vinaigrette) and the half-Caesar wedge which was also crisp and well presented. The classic liver and onions with bacon was very American and well cooked. They generously allowed a substitution for the mashed potatoes with asparagus. This Louisiana native really enjoyed their version of shrimp and grits. Shrimp were perfectly cooked; the sauce had the perfect seasoning with generous portions of andouille sausage. our pre dinner cocktails were well executed; the rolls (with their garlic and parsley topping and the whipped butter) were spot-on. A wonderful evening in Ocala.

I’m still not sure why a 12% service charge is added. I asked the server and got some story about it being distributed to non serving staff. Sure seems to me it would be better if the restaurant paid sufficiently and handled it with the prices on the menu. At $200+ for two for dinner including wine dealing with this misc. added to my bill it doesn’t feel good. For me personally I found the staff great and professional and the last thing I would is stiff these folk with a low gratuity. BUT with the 12% already calculated it is hard to know how much to add to that.

We went for our Anniversary. The whole experience was excellent. All of the staff was very accommodating and very pleasant. Great time.

Not their fault, but we sat outside, which was lovely, but there were two “kids” skateboarding on the sidewalk right next to our table. They were very loud. This is an issue for the Gainesville PD. Something for Amelia’s to bring up with them.
